Beskrivelse

Pressure measurements in slurry lines are always problematic, particularly where beneficiation treatment adds corrosive chemicals to the mix. The donut or in-line seal has the advantage of offering no impedance to the flow, so there are no nozzles which could block. The downside of this is that, like most such diaphragm seals the space behind the elastic membrane has to be solidly oil-filled, requiring a vacuum pump to extract the air. Any damage to the instrument requires the whole assembly to be removed, putting the line out of service. The latest innovation from Blanes uses a unique stinger design, similar to a hypodermic needle attached to the instrument, coupled with a rubber compression fitting on the in-line seal gauge connection. This allows instruments to be replaced without shutting down the line. All that is required is a replacement instrument, pre-filled with silicone oil and fitted with a stinger. The failed instrument is removed and replaced with the spare in a matter of seconds. This system can be applied to a pressure gauge, pressure switch, pressure transmitter, or, using Blanes multi-instrument adaptor, any combination of the three. An additional advantage when using pressure gauges is that the union between the gauge and seal allows for any orientation.
